LOL

Of course!

Maybe that MZ-S hamster-sneeze shutter sound was intentional after all?

Just to clarify, I meant top right as the image is presented, actually top left
of the properly viewed image.

At 70mm/f4 it is much worse. Can't be bothered to download any of the other
images. Most of the problem @70mm seems to be due to tester hyperexcitement.
Always thought of the Japanese as rather more phlegmatic than that.

It could be depth of field fall off, but a 17mm lens at f7.1 should have DOF
from around 3 feet
to infinity, I would think.

Bill, I don't see what you mean. The plane of focus is along the rope and the
bell-shaped thingies, and considering the difference in lighting they don't
look significantly sharper on one side or the other. The lower corners are
well behind the plane of focus, and the strings of colorful oval things stretch
diagonally away from the camera.

In short, looks okay to me.

Corner sharpness is terrible. The EXIF says it was shot at 17mm at f/7.1, so I
doubt if it's
going to get any better by stopping down more.
The bottom left seems particularly bad. Does it get better at longer focal
lengths or does it
stay crappy?
If this is typical of this lens, it is unusable.

It's just another sluggish zoom for me. But, given previous discussions of
lens quality, is it my imagination or is the top right corner of this picture
less blurry than the other three?
