Get your own effin' tape, Frank. In fact, in keeping with your colorful bike riding attire, why not get a bright coloured tape. Gaffer tape comes in bright colors as well as Pro Black. Hey, that's great - it's a super camera and the lens is surprisingly good for a basic, low cost, kit lens. A friend of mine took one to India with him and, from what I can see of the pics, you'll be happy with it. Welcome the Digis-R-Us club. Now you'll have to learn about Photoshop, get the newest software, buy a new computer, probably another memory card, and a see how much money you save by not shooting film LOL Shel [Original Message] From: frank theriault I've just acquired a *istD, along with an f3.5-5.6 18-55mm AL. the role reversal (was: Digi-Boy)
I've been enjoying, although hardly using, a Pentax 645 camera kit that was loaned to me by a kind list member. Several have been offered to me over the past six months. Another one was offered to me recently and, after some serious thought, I went back over to visit and refused the offer. I just couldn't think that it would be worth spending money on. So the guy offered it to me again at half the price, which was already ridiculously low. I succumbed. I mean, I won't say the exact price, but let's just say that my recently acquired FA43 Limited, even with the rebate, was more than double what I paid for this whole 645 kit: Pentax 645 with front and rear caps 2x 120 magazines with tubs A45/2.8 and A75/2.8 lenses, with hood and caps Electric release remote cord, standard short cable release Neckstrap and instruction booklet Both large and small eyepiece rubbers (one new) Fitted camera case (brand new in the box!) Eyepiece focusing magnifier, with case At the price I paid, if I shoot one roll of film with it and sell one 16x20 print from that, it will have paid for itself. Such it is. Frank, Since you came out of hiding I may as well too especially because of your news. Congratulations! I guess I can loan my spare *ist D to someone else at NPW on GFMtn... of course a set of lenses will always be available for use on the mountain. As for myself, I have not been shooting much though I am headed up to NYC for the weekend and may take a few snapshots. I did take quite a few shots at the baseball Washington Nationals last preseason game this past weekend. I have been contemplating taking the 645n and 67 out for a spin one weekend here in Baltimore. One problem I have is the one place that I found to develop bw and 120/220 film does not compare to my place back in Florida. I may have to rely on transparencies I guess. Oh, did I mention that I have acquired a Leica M3 with a 35/2 lens? An A35/3.5 might be useful too, but I think that 90 degree wide that I like so much will require a new lens in the 25-28mm range.
