I think that it is only common courtesy not to step in someone else's
puddle. If you are not interested leave it alone. Touting it here is about
the same as making frivolous bids that you have no intention of honoring.

The two exceptions are:
1. If you are the seller, and a regular member of this list. (If you don't
contribute here, but just sign up to tout your Ebay auctions, I personally,
consider you to be a spammer).
2. If the item is in the category of outrageous, or wierd and not likely to
be bid on by anybody in their right mind, but good for a laugh. ($25,000 BIN
for instance).

Ebay posts

2002-04-27 Thread Matt Bevers

I just want to clarify something as I'm still relatively new to the list.
It seems as if there have been an awful lot of posts regarding ongoing Ebay
auctions lately. I thought that the "unspoken rule" was not to mention
something until it was over or only if it was in an odd category and
therefore not likely to be found. The idea of course being that the list
shouldn't be driving up the price on someone who has been quietly watching
an item and waiting to snipe.

Now, I don't want to step on anyone's toes here, but is this a fairly
accurate description of what is "accepted ebay policy," or not?
