Re: Enabled.... hmmm
Patience... I have been looking for one for ages. I think one thing to do is to watch smaller forums than ebay, especially those that are not auctions, and shops that are not too experienced with used Pentax equipment. Ebay is too well known and the price gets too high. Pentax is not very popular in Norway any more but they did have a large marked share here in the 80's, so there is a lot of old equipment around and a lot of people with no idea of the price. Prices are usually lower than outside Norway. I've seen a couple of A* 85's and even A* 135's at good prices, but usually they disappear very fast. This time I was lucky. I found mine on a Norwegian forum http://www.foto.no/bruktmarked/ . Click on Alle 35mm on the left (or Alle mellomformat for medium format) and then choose Pentax under the box called Merke. The guy who sold me the 135 still has a K 50mm 1.2 for NOK 2000 (~$300), two A 70-210 for NOK 700, and in another ad one K40mm 2.8, two K35mm 2.8 and a K28 2.8 for NOK 300 each, as well as an A35-70 4.0 for NOK 500. He seems to be reliable and rates the quality of the lenses as good (mine was As new, which it is). We'll have to start a most hated club :-) If you could see how my A* 85 1.4 looks after 15 years of hard use I'd be president of that club (the glass is fine, I had a CLA and check a couple of years ago). Enabled.... hmmm
It´s strange. I was planning to buy a 77mm because I sometimes think the A*85 1.4 is too big, and suddenly I´ve got a myth in my hands. The A*135 1.8 is even larger, but I couldn´t resist at the price of NOK 3500 (a little more than US $500). At least I saved it from the hands of a collector, it is almost without a scratch, even the PASSED sticker is intact, with hood, case and SMC Pentax UV filter. It is sad when these lenses are not used :-) DagT
