Re: Foggy Day at Gray Lodge

2008-12-24 Thread Jack Davis
Thanks for commenting Ann.
Gray Lodge is a California State Wildlife Area located in the northern
Sacramento Valley. It lies almost wholly in Butte Co. 'prox fifty miles north
of Sacramento and 12 - 15 miles from my home in Yuba City.
Why it's referred to as a Lodge is beyond me. At this time of year, a large
parking area is filled with the RV's, trailers and a few tents of pheasant,
duck and goose hunters and uniformed State Fish and Game types.
Arrangements can be made to wade to and from observation blinds and there is a
large viewing platform freely available. There is a seriously comfortable small
building equipped with a relief facility and several observation windows
which open for those with cameras and who have plenty of mosquito repellent.

The cloud does work well. I would like to see a little more warmth

wouldn't have that cloud and maybe a change in fog. Isn't nature

Thanks, Bob. Yes, I believe only ducks. Many geese, mainly Snows with some
Canada Honkers, but in other areas of the preserve.
There is such a variety of critters to be seen that I sometimes come close to
running the rig off the two track windy, narrow visitor's loop road. It's my
go to place and one I feel lucky to have nearby.
