Pentax hasn't had a runaway success since the late 1970's early 1980's.
I doubt the staff even remembered what it was like.

Being conservative by nature, I would avoid shooting with a new to me
equipment without much practice/familiarisation first.

Oh, and I can only photograph kids on a swing if prefocussed;
extrapolate for racing :-)

Ultimately, It'll arrive when it arrives. Being impatient by nature, I
want it and I want it NOW! :) It won't kill me to wait though. I hope I
have it in my hands before 13 Dec as I'll be going with a bunch of mates to
a local racetrack where I'll be using it to take shots of them circulating

Err, I am well pleased for Pentax and for all you happy people

For those that didn't follow the link, he says: "We have not changed
our planned availability date of early November, as posted on our

Hey guys, early November is less than two weeks away! I hope to go
shoot some birds with a 300mm this weekend, I would love to have had
the shake reduction, but I can wait... If I can get mine before
Thanksgiving week, I'll have a chance to play with it then.

No, that figure is just the initial production volume for the first month,
not the max. Anyways, looks like the initial demands have exceeded their
target. I am sure there is some flexibility in their manufacturing plants
to increase production according to the demands.

If Pentax weren't so ambiguous in their limited press-releases these
lines of questions wouldn't be so prevalent but they don't. There
appear to be a lot of people who have put money down on a new K10D, if
