Well that was a lovely trip - thanks for taking us along! I have some faves but too lazy to type them out. As to the geology - hmm looks layer of not too old (geologically speaking) conglomerate on top of the bed rock and the shape probably has a lot to do with the direction swirling winds... probably easy enough to find out with specific coordinates and the local equivalent of roadside geology as you said you were in Devon , after which a whole layer of geological stuff is named, it shouldn't be too hard. Lovely stuff. If I didn't live here, I could cope with living on that coast. One small quibble: Indian Enfields, not Royal Enfields. Much more reliable than that ancient British rubbish.
