Re: GESO 2018 - 071-079 - GDG
Thanks Dan! Flickr definitely has it's weirdnesses. - The "magnifying glass" means "search" in their visual nomenclature, not "zoom", so clicking that presents likely search candidates of similar things. - The double-arrow gizmo at bottom right means toggle between the size they chose as default for your display/window size and a "fully zoomed in" display size. I have no idea how they calculate either of those, I tried a few different window sizes on my display and found they autozoomed the image in that window display as I changed it, but then clicking the control did unpredictable re-sizing. If you want to see an image at the definitive size that I uploaded, click the download button (next to the zoom button at the lower right) and pick Original from the popup list. It will download the image to your system as I uploaded it so you can view it in local image display tools that are somewhat less pathological in behavior. All other sizes were calculated and created by flickr by their upload tools. For some consistency these days, and to take advantage of the beautiful high resolution displays and massive bandwidth that most photo users have at their disposal now, my original uploads generally are JPEG files at 75% quality that fit within a maximum 1600x1600 pixel (theoretical) box, and sizes average a few hundred kilobytes to a couple of megabytes. I only rarely post things larger than that, and usually note them as 1:1, "full size," or by download size when I do. At some point I'll create a new website/web server for my photos. I'm getting a little tired of the flickr.com craziness with them now being owned by whachamacall'em. :-) G — No matter where you go, there you are. > On Jul 29, 2018, at 4:41 AM, Daniel J. That's a nice collection of interesting shape and color studies. I continue to have difficulty viewing flickr. the image as presented is too small. Clicking on the image makes it so huge I can't see the whole thing at once. Clicking on the magnifying glass takes me to someone else's images.
