I can't claim credit for the model selection, but I have always pretty much photographed whoever asked. Raf was the fellow I did the art nudes of last week. One of the models asked me to post all of her selections from the shoot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157641183648885/ And PK and Stewart were helpers who I got a few photos of as well, they asked that their photos not be in the main set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157641139431104/ There was another male extra, but he didn't pose with the women in any of my photos. > > All very well executed and as Bruce said, everyone bad fun. Re: GESO pinup photo shoot
Looks like a fun time was had by all, Larry. Assuming you were after bright with little shadow, the lighting looks reasonable to me. The most convincing Pin-up shots for me are LRC17144 (the best pinup pose and expression), LRC16878 and LRC16904. Next time you collab on pin-ups you should suggest some homework for everybody. Convincing pin-ups need the right poses, wardrobe and vintage hair styles. Look up pin-curls and finger-waves in Youtube for tutorials. Pincurls in particular would have made your model with the red polka dots look fabulous. For poses and wardrobe ideas search for paintings by Gil Elvgren and his contemporaries. Some more props would be good too. The umbrella is a good choice. The cupcake too. And omit most or all of the men next time. Pin-up is all about the women, and teasing the viewer. GESO pinup photo shoot
A friend thought that would be fun to set up a pinup photo shoot at her house, with people to do hair, makeup etc. and asked me to be one of the photographers. Sorry Frank, all of the primary models were women, though we had a couple guys on hand as extras. I tried shooting with a high key background, used white board from home depot for the floor and white seamless for the back. I didn't have enough light on the back, so I had issues to deal with in post. Also the seams between the floor panels needed to be dealt with in post. I did discover that I could drag the spot remover in lightroom to remove a line, so that made things easier. I was never really happy with my lighting, but it wasn't a total failure. Lighting was a 7' umbrella on the model (no fill light and just the room as fill reflector) and a smaller softbox on the background. Since the stage was in a corner, I only had one side, and the front for setting up lights. I shot about 1300 frames, and narrowed it down a bit for this set: http://www.flickriver.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157641128305303/ Comments and suggestions on improving the lighting appreciated. -- Larry Colen l...@red4est.com http://red4est.com/lrc -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
