You can test this as follows: "take a picture" without film, with the flash on, in a little bit dark room, without a lens mounted, keep the film door wide open. Look from the rear side to see the light passing the shutter. With the shutter at 50% of the correct "flash sync speed",in your case 1/125 sec, you will see that about 50% of the negative will not receive light (50% will receive, for the optimist :-)) At the correct flash sync speed (in your case 1/60 sec)you should see that the whole negative receives light. Yes, the PZ-1 has 1/250 as well. Perhaps the contrast control was still on, or the switch to trailing shutter or so. Re: HELP, HELP: Z-1 won't sync at 1/250!
Perhaps you have engaged the trailing curtain synchro at the AF 500 FTZ. In such case, the camera can't sync faster than 1/125. Have a look at the back of your flash, and set it to first curtain sync and (hopefully) you'll get th1 1/250 speed. Richard, Are you sure the flash synch on the Z-1 is 1/250? If you are sure, put it in shutter priority and set it to 1/250th. If that doesn't work, put it into manual mode and set to 1/250th. I was thinking that the flash synch was one of the differences between the Z-1 and the Z-1p.
