Happy new Year from a new list member (Charles Braswell)

2004-01-01 Thread Charles Braswell Jr
Hi everyone. My name is Charles Braswell Jr and I've decided to join the
list today after lurking for quite a while. I've been checking the posts
daily for around a year and a half and have enjoyed the posts and links to
so many interesting topics. I'm a regular attendant at the Grandfather
Mountain Nature weekends and a lot of you have already met me and knew that
I was lurking on the list. I look forward to meeting many more list members
in the future. I'm a professional outdoor, travel and nature photographer.
I've also done weddings, sports and special occassion photography. I use
Pentax equipment and shoot 35mm and 6 X 7. I've also got some sentimental
Canon equipment from the days when I was using the FD system. Thanks for
letting me come aboard (Please don't rock the boat :-) ).

Charles

His very first thread and he's managed to get his name in the subject
line. Bloody cheek!

Hi Charles, and welcome. Sounds like you almost need no intro - I'll say
hi at GFM.

Lurking for 18 months? Jees, how many times before that did you write a
reply to some thread, then delete it at the last minute?

Best,

Cheers,
  Cotty

I've known Charles for several years now, and at the risk of swelling his
head, he's really one of the "good guys".

For those who don't know, Charles was "Best of Show" winner at GFM in
2003. Listmeister Brewer and I judged he's the contest (just so you
don't attach *too* much credibility to his win!) and Charles's photo is
the one for which I unofficially re-named the awards: Instead of
"Honorable Mention", "Runner-Up" and "Winner", I suggested they be
categorized as "Great Shot", "I Wish I'd Taken That One" and, "I Hate
This Guy!" ;-)

Here's Charles' winning shot:

(It looks even better as a print or projected)

He *also* won the Wildflower category:

Chris,

I kind of walked right into that one, didn't I?

omigosh! When I was first considering GFM and browsing their website, I
looked over those photographs! I was completely blown away by them both,
and particularly the leaf one.

I am humbled to be in such talented company...
