Is something wrong with my CF card?
I have a 512 MB SanDisk extreme II (IIRC) that only reads 39 photos when it is empty (with the ist D set to JPEG Large). When I put in a regular Sandisk 512 card, it reads 119 pictures left to take. So, is the card bad? Can I just re-format it in the camera to fix it, or do I need to send it back to Sandisk for repair/replacement? TIA for any help. __ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Well, not that I have a CLUE what's wrong with your card, but if I were you I would certainly try to reformat it in the camera and see if that made a difference. If it doesn't, then call SanDisk. If you need to return it to them, you have to talk to them first. They have procedures for you to use to return disks. ERNR
Re: Is something wrong with my CF card?
I got a defective 512 card made by Sandisk. Formatting it didn't do any good. I contacted them (can't remember if by phone or email) and they gave me specific instructions to send it back for a replacement. There was the small inconvenience of waiting for the replacement, but the new card works satisfactorily. I'd try re-formatting in the camera first - it's possible that the technique you used for moving the files to a hard drive (or whatever) has not freed up the space used correctly. Just FYI, I re-formatted it in the camera, and it is back to normal. Thanks all! --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > I get that when i move a card from the D1 to the D2H > or visa versa. Re: Is something wrong with my CF card?
I've made it a point to remove images from my memory cards by reformatting them, in camera, hopefully preventing future capture issues which I'm led to believe can happen by simply deleting. -Original Message- From: John Coyle <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Dec 9, 2004 2:10 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Is something wrong with my CF card? RE: Is something wrong with my CF card?
I have experienced this a couple of times. I foud that the reason was, that I had previously edited some pics and saved them (again) on the CF card, while the card was in the card reader. Then I forgot about it. A picture file like this will not be recognized by the camera, which will "say" "no image". But the card's not really empty. Only the camera can't read this edited image. Could this be your problem??? Re: Is something wrong with my CF card?
one common mistake in Windows is to have the Recycle Bin enabled on removable drives. that means that erasing the files doesn't make them go away. the latest versions of Windows are supposed to do it automatically, but often they don't if Windows doesn't recognize the exact type of drive properly. RE: Is something wrong with my CF card?
That very well could have been what happened. But, I think everything is back to normal, atleast for now :) --- Jens Bladt <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I have experienced this a couple of times. > I foud that the reason was, that I had previously > edited some pics and saved > them (again) on the CF card, while the card was in > the card reader.
