The upgrade policy they announced for CS6 that they were forced to rescind *WILL* go into effect with CS7. CS6 you can upgrade from CS4 or CS5 (and for a higher price CS3). But CS7 will only be upgradable from CS6, otherwise you have to pay full price again. And I think CS6 is only upgradable from CS3/4 through December of this year. Unless things change drastically, CS6 is probably going to be my last rodeo anyway. From: Godfrey DiGiorgi I've used Photoshop CS5 so little I see no point to upgrading yet again to CS6. It would be a waste of money and disk space for me. Re: LR4 docs?
What I find is that there is much in the videos that bears watching, even though it might not be the explicit subject of the video presentation and may seem at first glance to be simple stuff I would often skim over. With a complex, interactive application like Lightroom, how an experienced user approaches and uses the tools is often as or more important than the specific information regarding what control does what. This information is quite difficult to present in a textual representation... it's usually the harder part of what I'm looking for, rather than 'what does this feature do'. Yes, reading can be faster. I'm generally not in a race to learn what I need to know at the fastest possible speed. I'd rather understand how to use the tools, then what they do and how they work becomes readily apparent through use and experimentation. So I spend a few minutes watching a video, then spend more time exercising what I learned and practicing what the tools do. Seems to work well for me. Thanks Godfrey, it looks like there is some helpful information there. Unfortunately I find watching just about any tutorial video painful. Blame it on ADD, but they always take forever on points that are obvious, and gloss over the things I need to pay attention to. Plus, I read so much faster than people talk.
