FYI--here's a 7 minute video that shows the blurb plug-in for Lightroom 3.
I just watched it. Looks pretty cool. Cheers, Christine

Thanks Christine. However note that this only supports Bookify, the online
Blurb version. Which as far as I can tell provides far fewer user controls over
the bookmaking process compared to their downloadable BookSmart software.

True enough, but for something quick and basic, it seems a cool plug-in--and
there have been times I wanted quick and basic. When I finally get around
to upgrading to Lightroom 3, I may just check this out--but I have to
upgrade my computer first. Cheers, Christine

I have to agree - it does look like a slick quick-and-dirty process.
One of the things that bugged me about early Blurb was the suggestion that you
should have your image sized pretty close to the size requirements for its
destination slot in the book. I.e., do the resizing in LR, then export, then
import into Blurb rather than relying on Blurb to do a good job reducing or
enlarging your image. I wonder if the LR-export plug-in knows enough to export
the minimally necessary size?

But NVidia's CUDA accelleration typically requires 256MB of dedicated

While Photoshop CS5 is definitely CUDA-enabled I've seen no indication

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CUDA

Paul, CUDA is a technology that potentially allows to use one's GPU in
order to assist the CPU thereby significantly increasing combined
computational power. It is said that the nature of computations that
programs such as LightRoom or Photoshop perform lends itself easily to
such an enhancement.

As a matter of purely subjective evidence, my brother (IT consultant,
etc) indicated to me that I may expect as much as 5-10 *times* faster
processing of my images should new LR have CUDA integration.

I hope it sheds some light on this.

You're SOL on the iBook, LR3 requires an Intel-based Mac. Your PC's
graphics card is far too old to support CUDA and the PC itself is
probably too old, current system requirements are a P4 and 2GB of RAM
running XP SP3 or later.
