Thanks for the heads-up, Igor. The sky cleared here and I was able to
catch some glimpses through a window at 1/4, 3/4 and full eclipse.
Pretty cool colour. I was unable to get any shots though; terrible
sight lines and it was just about to go below the neighbor's roofline
at 6:25 AM at full eclipse.

Yep... and I'm planning on shooting it... the weather is supposed to be 
partly cloudy in these parts tonight, which should allow for some interest 
in the shots as the moon will be too high to be close to the horizon.  That 
is assuming the moon is visible through the partly clear spaces.

I think I'm going to try to shoot it too.. Moonrise here (California)
is at 6 pm and totality is between 7.23 pm and 8.45 pm.. I guess I'll
try to shoot the onset of totality when the moon is lower in the sky. 
It's cloudy here too, though, and there's a thunderstorm forecast - I
hope that doesn't hit!

Any suggestions on exposure?

I've heard that the sunny 16 rule can be changed to sunny 11 for
moon photos.
I'll have a go with digital this evening. (For once it's *not* cloudy in
Pittsburgh! Who'da thunk?)

I did not shoot it.  It was a surreal environment to watch it for me though.

I was at the finish line at the Ironman Florida triathlon and the eclipse
could clearly be seen above and to the north of the finish line.

Using the links Bob and someone else forwarded on how to shoot this event i tried 
aroll in
the SP500 last night with the tak 200 and 2x.
I hope i adjusted properly for the 2x.Did some short bulb shots near the end at 
various X
seconds 
opened.
Time will tell.:-)

I also set my Wild T1a survey transit up so i could get a better view than through a 
200
2x set up.Very 
nice to have.

I tried to get a few, although my lunar shooting has left much to be
desired in the past.  I used my 500 mm mirror lens, as it's the only one
that gives me an acceptably large image.

It was a great eclipse, however.  At least where I was, the sky was
clear an we had a great view.  Easily the best lunar eclipse I've seen.

IIRC, the image size would be the same regardless of format.  It's just that
the image would take up more of the frame on a smaller format and less of
the frame on a larger format.

One hundred millimeters focal length per one millimeter on-negative
size, approximately.  A 400mm lens with two 2X t/c's gives
approximately 2/3 full frame vertically on 35mm film.

I can see it from my house - it's quite a clear night in London. I'm
not shooting it because a 300/4 with 2X converter is not really a

cool, clear, and windless here just an hour north of Amita. i took some
pictures with my Sigma 50-500. the ISO 200 ones worked but were small and
some blur because of the long exposures. then i added a 2X extender and
shifted to ISO 1600. didn't notice that the EV was now out of range and
underexposed by about 2-3 stops. compensated in Photolab but the images were
far too noisy to be of any practical use.

The sky is very clear in Slovakia tonight so I tried to take some shots as
well. But I had to get out of the building because the moon was out of view
from my balcony at the time of eclipse. Unfortunately, I only had ISO 200
film available for use. Hopefully I will not end up with blurry pictures...

I did. Some shots with a 50mm and a 200mm, varied the exposures. 
Hopefully I'll get the Pleiades in some of them as well.

A surprisingly dark eclipse.
