Re: MTF program line on K10D 16-45
Yes I sometimes notided that behaviour. Solved the thing by keeping the use of MTF and ditching Auto-ISO. ISO can e changed quite quickly on the K10D and if I neeed an ISO value, I can pick SV mode. -- Thibault Massart aka Thibouille -- K10D,Z1,SuperA,KX,MX, P30t and KR-10x ;) ... -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
Re: MTF program line on K10D 16-45
Hmm. My standard configuration is Auto ISO constrained to within 100-400, Program with MTF line or Av mode. When in Program, I find the camera does a remarkably good job most of the time, and when I need a different zone of focus I use the Program Shift feature, then return to the line with the Green button. But most of the time I want to be in explicit control of focus zone so I'm in Av mode. I've not had any issues with the MTF program line... seems to do the right thing most of the time. MTF program line on K10D 16-45
My K10D finally arrived and i'm learning how to use this beauty. It's heavy and (very) fast. I like it. When I set the program line to MTF my camera always wants to use wide open aperture on the 16-45 which isn't what MTF should do. Firmware is 1.20 Any suggestions? -- Toine http://leende.net/peso -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net

Rick - MTF program line will give F4 from 16-28 mm., and F4.5 above that. At least on my DA 16-45, F4-F4.5 are demonstrably not the best apertures. They are good and useable, but not the best. This problem has made me wonder if Pentax didn't implement MTF properly in the DA 16-45's chip, or in the DSLRs. Re: MTF program line on K10D 16-45
Yes that what I have found. Checked it on the istD with the same results. Strangely on an A lens MTF results in default f8 and P mode in f5.6. The 18-55 prefers 5.6 in MTF. Strange... In low light my combo selects f4 from 16mm then f5 just past 35mm then f5.6 at 45mm, of course in bright light the response is completely different as would be expected in an MTF biased program. with plenty of light at 16mm the aperture tends to stay limited to wide values and the shutter speed varies while at 45mm the aperture tends to varies as much as the shutter speed. I'm sure it's working but find it far too confusing to actually work with in practice. I'm not particularly happy with the response of any of the program curves in the K10D particularly with Auto ISO active. They tend to disregard SR and FL settings pushing the shutter speed/ISO up unnecessarily. -- Rob Studdert HURSTVILLE AUSTRALIA Tel +61-2-9554-4110 UTC(GMT) +10 Hours [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://picasaweb.google.com/distudio/PESO http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~distudio//publications/ Pentax user since 1986, PDMLer since 1998 -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
