Re: MZ-S for under $700

2002-03-15 Thread harald_nancy

The lowest price I have found for the U.S. version MZ-S
(body only) is $768.99 from Tristate Camera.
Has anyone found a better price for the U.S. model
from a reputable dealer?
Thanks.

Just saw the new 'suggested retail price' from Germany (effective 1 April).
SRP is 999 Euro (around US $ 882)for the body only.

 $649.99 available for immediate ship
with a 'green warranty' for $724
 normal US version is $849

So what country is selling them below $649 to these guys that they
are going to make a decent profit? Aren't they all made in the same
 factory in japan,
just put in different boxes with different manuals?

Or is my FA button going to have Japanese characters?

Hello Tiger.

The buttons are in roman (ie how I am writing now). My immediate reaction is
that they are not "new", maybe "factory repacks", or "shop-soiled".

We just imported some Nikon wireless slave units (from Hong Kong) - these
were originally EEC market products - you can tell by the packaging. They
cost a whole lot more to buy in the Japanese market. Barmy, isn't it?

Pentax manuals even in the home market are in Japanese and English. The
products are CE marked where neccessary.

Kind regards from sunny Brighton

2002-03-14 Thread Shel Belinkoff

You can always get a manual in English from Pentax USA - it's $4.00

I've purchased new pentax gear from out of the US and received an
international warranty card. Perhaps this camera is a "class 2" unit,
which may be the term for a refurbished demo or warranty item. Maybe
it's not really new.

Remember, you usually get what you pay for, and the thriftiest man
always pays the most.

2002-03-14 Thread Paul Jones

21days isnt a very long warranty on a brand new camera. My MZ-S has already
been back for repair once.

Maybe these are the older models that required the software upgrade?

Paul

MZ-S for under $700

2002-03-14 Thread Tiger Moses

Its legit - more or less.

Camera City 800-896-2626

Says its an import version, so manual probably wont be in English
No warranty beside the 21 day satisfaction guaranteed kind of thing.

$649.99 available for immediate ship
with a 'green warranty' for $724
normal US version is $849

So what country is selling them below $649 to these guys that they
are going to make a decent profit? Aren't they all made in the same
factory in japan,
just put in different boxes with different manuals?

Or is my FA button going to have Japanese characters?

Quite a dilemma!

Any advice?
