Don't know if I'd even buy the LX. Ever since working with a friend's
Leica twenty years ago I've longed for a truly professional-quality compact
SLR. I figure the MZ-S with Limited lenses just might be the system I've
been looking for!
I shoot BW exclusively. Shoot almost entirely manually. (Except in
very low light.) And require a quality spot metering system. So why in the
world would I want a more expensive, larger camera loaded down with features
I have no need of.
If you ever get a chance, look throught the Pentax Family yearbook,
PENTAX PHOTO ANNUAL. Each volume has a section of photographs submitted by
professional photographers using Pentax equipment. The professionals use
virtually EVERY type of Pentax camera imaginable, including an occassional
point and shoot image.
The only conclusion I can draw is that it isn't the camera, it's the
photographer! If an updated LX is your dream system by all means go for it.
For me, I want a quality compact system that will give me the quality images
I desire! And the MZ-S / Limited lens combination looks to be just what I've
been hoping for!
Instead of saving up for an updated LX I'll probably be trading in my
FA* lenses for equivalent black Limited lenses as soon as the new compact
lenses are released! My days of carting around a bulky pro system are
over! I'm going compact and loving it!
