Actually, lead foil is much more effective, it's absorption characteristics being so much greater in both the incoming and outgoing waves. Unfortunately, it tears too easily, rendering it's efficacy moot with little skull-cap time. Tin foil is only marginally better for wearability. A combination of all three is my choice of headgear, layering (from skull to outer-space) loose wool knit, covered with aluminum foil, lead foil, then tin foil, then a outer covering of aluminum foil. This sandwich of brain pan protection can be further enhanced by a chrome plated period motorcycle helmet with leather chin strap. Do not bother enquiring at your local haberdashery. Roll your own.
