Re: OT: Dead Mac
I sure feel for you*. *Of course I am quite happy with my ancient X23 Thinkpad I paid $290 for. I find, being poor, that I no longer have to worry about having the very latest stuff, only about whether I can get by with it. Of course, being human I have figured out other things to worry about instead. -- graywolf http://www.graywolfphoto.com http://webpages.charter.net/graywolf "Idiot Proof" <==> "Expert Proof" --- Rick Womer wrote: > Our G5 iMac has gone on the fritz: half way into > startup it just turns off. Re: OT: Dead Mac
Sounds like a flakey power supply or intermittent circuit breaker. I had similar behavior with my monitor's power supply last year. It's a PITA. Sounds hardware-related, but there's nothing I can think of off the top of my head (It's gone 3am here and I'm trying to 'acclimate' a bit in preparation for GFM - had a coffee at midnight and my brain is frazzed with conflict...) > >So, my wife is using her MacBook for work while we get >the iMac repaired, and I will have to bring this >Winblows laptop to GFM. OT: Dead Mac
Our G5 iMac has gone on the fritz: half way into startup it just turns off. Period. We've tried all the dodges in the owners' manual, and have tried booting from the system DVD; same thing. So, my wife is using her MacBook for work while we get the iMac repaired, and I will have to bring this Winblows laptop to GFM. Sigh. Rick http://www.photo.net/photos/RickW Got a little couch potato?
