Ugh. They actually advertise new Hasselblad kits for just over half of
that price around here.

I can to a certain extent identify with the people who will pay several
times the price of your average SLR for the "craftmanship" of a Leica M,
but an MF camera at twice the price of a Hassleblad makes a lot less sense.

I think we'll just have to disagree on this a little. The Mamiya 6 and
7 lenses were indeed superb, but I never liked their 645 lenses as
much as my Zeiss/Hassy lenses. I had both.

Don't know the Fuji/Hassy lenses enough to talk about them.

I prefer Leica's image rendering over the Mamiya 6/7 lenses, despite
the superb par that both represent ... although the differences are
subtle, the Leicas M and R lenses always produced results that
appealed to me more. I just couldn't afford a Leica R system of
lenses, or I'd still be there waiting for the Leica R digital which is
going to happen within the next year... !

I've been very impressed with Mamiya's lenses, I currently use their
older M645 kit. The Mamiya 7 series RF lenses are as good as anything
Leica's ever produced (and arguably better than Zeiss's MF glass,
certainly sharper) and their 645AF lenses are excellent, as good or
better than anything Hasselblad sells for their H-series.

The ZD is NOT the PhaseOne 645 system, that's just a rebadged PhaseOne
version of the 645AFDIII body from Mamiya.

The ZD is either Mamiya's integrated 645AF mount DSLR from 2006 or
their current MF DB for the 645AFD compatible cameras that's derived
from that camera.
