Re: OT: update to macOS Sierra

2016-10-28 Thread David J Brooks
well, step one is completed. I have 10.11 downloaded and ready to go
once i finalize talking myself into it.:-) Just want to double check
that my main 4-5 programs will work at least. I'll go from there.
Machine is backed up via time machine and doc's and photos on
secondary units. As i have mentioned prior i have never doen a new OS
upgrade, i did do the minor ones during 10.6 but this is all new and
quite scary to me. We'll see.:-)
As long as Word for Mac 2011, LR version 4.4 and ffetch version 5.3.1
will work i'll be ok. I know my older PS ELE version 9 and PS CS will
not work, but i can just upgrade to latest Elements when ever.

Re: OT: update to macOS Sierra

2016-10-27 Thread Stanley Halpin
Over the last couple of days I have upgraded (from 10.11.x) to 10.12.0, then to
10.12.1 on my iMac and Meg’s laptop. No drama, no problems. I even woke up Siri
and welcomed her to my desktop; she said something like “I don’t know what you
mean. How about a web search…”

Do note that, once you get to 10.12.0, you need to proceed to upgrade to
10.12.1 In my past experience such upgrades are bundled and take you directly
to the latest version, so I suspect that .1 was a quick patch and is probably
important.

I hope you have a good book to read while the process moves along.

print testing until the weekend, but all in all it seems to be running nicely
