Re: OT- let's pray 2-
The sad part Frank is he was right. Apparently you know no other epithet if YOU don't like what someone says it's racist. I personally thought Scooters post was extremely disturbing, very anti social, and probably in poor taste however it wasn't racist. You however have a holier than thou attitude which is not becoming. I doubt that Scoorterman really cares what you think of him, which is the only reason I can see for revisionism. Because of this I at least believe he's telling the truth he laid a trap for you and you walked in. Your reasonableness in this totally unreasonable situation is getting a bit old. I know I'm in the minority however I'm tired of it. By the way. It seems that the Chinese have just apprehended a number of gentlemen who seemed to have plans to attack American interests in China. This has to be somewhat embarrassing to the Chinese government, they so believe in order and control. Needless to these gentelmen they seem to be of middle eastern origin. There is that politically correct enough for you. I've had about enough of this bull. You said, "Do you honestly believe that going to war against the common people of Afghanistan is going to be an effective answer?" NO ONE PROPOSES GOING TO WAR WITH THE COMMON PEOPLE OF AFGHANISTAN OR THE COMMON PEOPLE OF ANY OTHER STAN! NO ONE HAS EVER PROPOSED WAR WITH ANY COMMON PEOPLE. IT'S INEFFECTIVE AND TOO COSTLY TO WASTE $1,000,000 MUNITIONS TARGETING NON PARTICIPANTS! The war is against the terrorist state within Afghanistan and with the power that welcomes them and gives them refuge! Regards, Bob... --- "In the carboniferous epoch we were promised perpetual peace. They swore if we gave up our weapons that the wars of the tribes would cease. This is the last message I plan to post on this tragic subject, so I'm gonna try to make it count... I must agree with Aaron, Shel, and the others. Racist bloodthirsty rants are NOT acceptable here. I've had no choice but to block "Shoot 'er, man!" from my e-mail box until this whole thing dies down, or maybe for good. His comments cut across me deeply, and hurt like hell. The Afghan people are already ravaged by war, and most oppose the Taliban government that is apparently housing bin Laden. Do you honestly believe that going to war against the common people of Afghanistan is going to be an effective answer? Maybe you do, but I don't. Like everyone else, I was enraged and shocked at the events of Tuesday. But inflammatory comments only hurt, they cannot help the victims, their families or their loved ones. Such energy might be better used by giving blood, raising money for the victims and their families, etc. I realize there's going to be disagreement on these matters. It's expected and understandable. But some people want to take things to extremes without considering the consequences...much like the terrorists did. They died in vain. Hopefully no one else will. - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. To unsubscribe, go to http://www.pdml.net and follow the directions. I don't know why you think it is funny or even appropriate to be baiting people to anger with these events. Using this horrible tragedy as a platform from which to launch trolls is, in my opinion, a serious disrespect to the five thousand people who have lost their lives. Congrats, Scoot, you are King Troll of PDML. You win. You made Frank angry. You made me angry, but I resisted posting until now. So you win. You beat me. You trolled until I couldn't take it anymore. You win. Must feel good, Scoot. Five thousand people died so you could post deliberately outrageous statements, make people angry and then laugh about it. Good for you. You win. > Not one word in my post was actually racist, prejudgemental or alluding to > racial superiority. Not prejudgemental? Are you joking? You are missing the point of Frank's rebuke: that not all people of the same ethnicity of the terrorists are themselves terrorists. I'm going to repeat this point again: did you want to salt the earth of the United States after killing all residents of the United States as retribution for McVeigh? No? But you want to kill everyone in Afghanistan because there are some extremists that came from there. Sorry, I forgot. You don't believe the things you post, you're just doing it for the reaction. Good work, you got me twice in the same response. You win. In a followup, you posted > > You wanna think something, go for it. > Wanna spit some rhetoric out that hole in yer face... fine... as long as > it's the internet, go for it. > Trying it in the REAL WORLD[tm] may ruin your day... even in Toronto. So, you didn't make sweeping blanket statements about killing everyone in Afghanistan? Or what? I don't even understand this followup, other than as further bait to Frank, especially with it ending in digs at the Canadian dollar and how he must be a follower. ...oh, I get it, it's another troll! You got me again, Scoot! Wow, you must be REALLY happy that all those people died, because this has just been a troll jackpot for you! I bet you're just salivating at the prospect of more deaths! Trolling on the PDML happens. No amount of glossing or revision can change what you said in your first post: "> let's KILL SOMETHING THEN pray over it > > Afghanistan/Pakistan whatever. Plow em BOTH under & salt the soil." You didn't say "if" they're responsible. You didn't say we "may yet" level them. It was a clear call to raze and destroy them. I found that offensive and insensitive. And, as far as what may or may not be racist, I think it's fair to go beyond mere dictionary definitions. I have no doubt that the proprietors of your local gas bar wear turbans. Why mention it? To what end? Why mention that "they still want $4 a gallon" for gas - as if it's wrong for them to do so? You chose to identify someone by a stereotypical physical characteristic. That would be like referring to an African-American gas bar owner as "the curly-haired friend", or a Chinese one as "the slant-eyed friend". The context in which you made the statement ("though they still wanted $4.00 a gal for petrol") sure sounded like a put down, and hence was, as far as I'm concerned, a racist comment. Please note, that I didn't call YOU a racist. I said it was a racist comment, and I stand by what I said. And by the way, I didn't assume anything about hijackers, Arabs, Muslims, or anything else. I simply felt that your comment about the fact that the gas bar owners or attendants wear turbans was inappropriate, no matter what their ethnicity - especially given the context of recent events. If I'm wrong about your comments - or you - then I apologize. And, I DID mean the part about "have a good day". :-) -frank Scooterman wrote: > Frank... > > Before you make accusations toward someone, > understand what it is you're accusing them of: > ~ > racism \ra-si-zem also -shi-\ noun (1936) > 1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and > capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a > particular race > 2 : racial prejudice or discrimination > racist \-sist also -shist\ noun or adjective > (C) 1996 Zane Publishing, Inc. and Merriam-Webster, Incorporated > ~~~ > I stated a personal opinion based upon the evidence (so far) that if it IS > indeed Pakistan/Afghanistan responsible for our current woes (which > actually started over 10yrs ago), we may YET level the countries mentioned. > Something the Russians were unwilling to do. > > I'd just like to see it taken to it's most extreme conclusion & salt the > earth (as the Egyptians did to a N. Frank... Before you make accusations toward someone, understand what it is you're accusing them of: ~ racism \ra-si-zem also -shi-\ noun (1936) 1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race 2 : racial prejudice or discrimination racist \-sist also -shist\ noun or adjective (C) 1996 Zane Publishing, Inc. and Merriam-Webster, Incorporated ~~~ I stated a personal opinion based upon the evidence (so far) that if it IS indeed Pakistan/Afghanistan responsible for our current woes (which actually started over 10yrs ago), we may YET level the countries mentioned. Something the Russians were unwilling to do. I'd just like to see it taken to it's most extreme conclusion & salt the earth (as the Egyptians did to a N. African country over 3,000 years ago). That way, "putting an end to terrorism" may be a bit easier... in the long run. As far as the new gas attendants goes, those were statements of FACT.
