Yes, thanks, it is checked. I have no problems in getting any pictures when on the
net. It's just that it won't show any jpg:s in a html document on my hard disk.

The problem is not not being able to see any single JPGs, my main program for browsing
picture folders is ACDSee and this works fine.
I want to open an html-document (a web album that I have created) locally (saved on my
hard disk) and see the JPGs linked to this document. When trying to do so I do not get
the JPGs, only the frames with the red cross for the missing JPG.

Yes, they are in fact associated to Photoimpact, although in the preferences of the
Photoimpact program I have not checked any picture format to be associated to this
program.
When trying to open a s i n g l e JPG in IE (File/Open) as in your suggestion, the
Photoimpact program will be launched and show the picture.
If this is where the problem lies, then how does one get rid of such an association?
(The Photoimpact program doesn't seem to offer any solution on this.)

('Boy, am I tired of this [..] or what... )

However - while writing this message I finally found and understood the awfully
inadequate instructions regarding "file types"(?) and was able to re-associate the
jpg:s to the ACDSee program and voila! my test Web Album works!
Now I can finally get on with my project, and hopefully soon get something up-loaded...

I
am
releived..:)

Thanks,
Lasse

You should be able to open IE then go to File, Open, find the JPG you want
to view and see it.

If you are trying to view a JPG by double clicking, it might not work as an
association might be set with another application.

Start/ Settings/ Control Panel/ Internet Options/ Advanced.
Scroll down to where it says "Show Pictures", and make sure it

2001-04-08 Thread Lasse Karlsson

It seems that my problem of not being able to see jpg-pictures in an html-document
locally (on my hard disk) is not a problem of any bad codes, but something related to
Internet Explorer or maybe some other program blocking the IE to show the jpgs.
When opening a computer magazine CD the jpgs won't show. When opening html documents
saved to disk from the net the jpgs don't show (the GIF:s do however) just like when I
tried to view the html-albums that I created.
I ran a "repair" of IE but it didn't help.
Is it possible that some other program may be interfering like in blocking the IE from
showing the jpeg:s?
Or is there a setting in IE whereby I by mistake may have prohibited the IE from
showing those jpg:s?
Any ideas anyone?

Re: OT. Web album: pictures don't show.

2001-04-07 Thread William Robb

Check your extensions, and make sure they match what the href
tag says. A common error is to have a tag such as , but then have "silly_picture.JPG"
on the server. This stuff is incredibly case sensitive, so if
you have a capital letter in the filename that isn't in the tag,
or the extensions don't match perfectly, the page will be
buggered up. Look for spaces in the tags, as that will screw up
the links. Also, if you are using absolute urls for your links,
make sure they are correct.
Can you get the jpeg by entering it's url? "silly_picture.html"
may be the name of the page, but you should be able to access
the image file itself by addressing it directly.
Just for the sake of converstion, a text editor program such as
Notepad or Editpad are much better programs for writing html
than many html editors, which tend to make a mess of the script.
The PUG is written with a combination of Editpad and the text
editor that is attached to Adobe GoLive.

OT. Web album: pictures don't show.

2001-04-07 Thread Lasse Karlsson

Hi all,

I am trying to create simple web albums. Using Photoimpact, ACDSee and Web Album
Creator I think I've done everything right, but when opening the albums locally in my
Internet Explorer (v 5.5) the jpgs don't show. I only get the typical picture frame
with a red cross for the missing picture. (Backgrounds, other frames as well as text
appear all right, but just not the pictures.)

I think I may have missed something basic here.
Anybody got a clue about what a beginner typically may have missed?

Lasse
