Re: PAW -- Sign of the Times
Not all the news from my trip to California is bad, despite the photo I posted yesterday: On 16/8/04, Daniel J. Matyola, discombobulated, offered: Here is a sign I found on the streets of San FRrancisco last week: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=2615535&size=md WARNING!!! This photograph is Explicit and quite graphic. It may offend some viewers on this list! Pentax was seen on the streets of San Francisco, if not as prominently as C***n: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=2615726 In fact, there were two store, essentially the same, in different parts of town like the one pictured above. In addition, there is still a large, free standing film store near Pier 39 at the Warf, and it seemed to be doing good business, although most of the cameras out by the sea lions seemed to be digital. My sister's bloke does it. The Pentax fits beautifully. Cheers, Cotty ___/\__ || (O) | People, Places, Pastiche ||=|www.macads.co.uk/snaps _

RE: PAW: Sign of the Times ?
Hi, Fred, As you likely recall, I used to live in Kitchener/Waterloo, so such signs aren't unfamiliar to me. They are certainly unique to the area, though, especially north of Waterloo, where the Old Order Mennonites tend to have farms. I'm guessing that Home Depot is north end of Waterloo, sort of on the way to St. Jacobs? Sadly, signs like that, on large non-Mennonite businesses tend to indicate the encroachment of the city on what was farmland. When I last lived in KW, I recall that many of the Old Order Mennonites were moving away from the area, up towards Mount Forest. Nice capture, and one that many on this list may never have seen before. thanks, frank "The optimist thinks this is the best of all possible worlds. The pessimist fears it is true." -J. The Old Order Mennonites, like the Amish, shun modern conveniences such as cars and prefer to use horse and buggies. The operator of this Home depot store has provided a barn/shelter for them to park their horses and buggies whilst shopping. Just struck me as an interesting sign, not one seen every day. Re: PAW: Sign of the Times ?
Hi! I think I would move the camera to the right a little so as to fully include Cavalier (spelling?) on the right and fully exclude car on the left. I think it would then make this a little more closed (lack of word)... It is parking all right ...
