Asunto: PDML Photo Annual 2008-2009 request

This email directed at all PDML Annual 2008-2009 book contributors.

As a part of my preparations to try and get a TV documentary
commissioned about the PDML and its worldwide contributors, and about
how you folks have started publishing a book of your work every year, I
have produced a short video test. I have used some of the pictures in
the book (2008-2009 PDML Photo Annual) in the video and what I need is
your permission, if I have used your pic. Can you have a look at the
video, and if I have used one of yours, can you please let me know (off
list if you like) if you have any objection.

Bare in mind the video is purely for viewing by professional TV
producers and not for general public consumption. Also bare in mind it
is part of a proposal, the other part being a written synopsis, and so
the video itself it out of context. It simply gives an idea of one small
part of the intended production including an idea of characters,
scenics, style and some content. Note that there is a particular Nikon
photog featured, but this is because I already have this footage and had
no time to shoot similar stuff at GFM last year. Pretend it says
'Pentax' on the camera and you'll get the idea ;-)

If the documentary is commissioned then it will all have to be shot
again from scratch so perhaps everyone will get a chance to be in it.
Timescale-wise, I think its doubtful that it would happen this year, but
 never say never.

I love the pacing and audio and video work, I really hope it finds its
way onto the air.

One critique: those 12 minutes are sort of trying to be about two
things at once: the people gathering at GFM, and also about the book
production. The segue back and forth could be smoother. I think
there's an underlying connecting thread that wants to be highlighted,
but I'm not sure you've quite got your grasp on it. -T

Odd that your proposal video is more compelling than most of the

Re: PDML Photo Annual 2008-2009 request

2010-01-30 Thread Bob Sullivan
Good video Cotty, hope it sells for you.

I suppose I'm preaching to the choir, but the pdml does amazing things
for photographers.
It brings together an international group of similar interest and experiences.
The internet has really enabled a new age of 'narrow-casting' instead
of braodcasting.
You can take 10,000 or 20,000 people worldwide and link them by
special interests.

The pdml is lucky because we can share output and experiences and
how-to's for our interest.
But I don't think it is unique. I think the guys with Corvette's or
'Ham radios' are doing the same.
Or knitting or quilting or raising orchids. Perhaps this is your aim...
A series of visually lovely broadcast videos on how the internet is
helping people enjoy their lives.

You're on the right track. The 'tube clearly needs more/better content.

Regards, Bob S.

Suffice to say, if any of my pix are in it, you've got my permission.

Please send my royalty cheques directly to Revenue Canada to pay down

list if you like) if you have any objection.

Cotty, i can get passed the password page and to the actual site,
but nothing shows up on my screen. I see the video bar moving, no

However, if any of my photos made it to the video, you can use
