No one gets the boot. But since sharpening is (or should be) a
function of print size, and you don't know what the print size is
going to be (hell, *we* don't know how big your photo will be
presented yet), less sharpening is better. Bigger size = less
sharpening. Over-sharpened shots will, by necessity, be reproduced
smaller in the book.

Well, I've already submitted my three, and the one I suspect will be
chosen will not need sharpening, that's for sure. ;-) So this
question is hypothetical (for next year maybe).

I almost always selectively sharpen. Usually it's just the subject,
sometimes just the face of the subject. Most of the frame remains
unsharpened.

How (if at all) could that be accomodated?

Thanks.

No, you just have to stay here on the PDML for an extra two years.
Sort of like hell for photographers.

Frank, no need for you to get sharp with us.

Of course I'm joking. I hope everyone gets their best shots in good
time to make Mark and the other judges' jobs easier.

In the past week or so, I printed out a bunch of my better shots as
8x12 and put them into photo albums.

Just figuring out the pairing and ordering of my own shots was a tough
enough job for me to gain a whole new measure of respect for the job
that was done on last years annual. I certainly do not envy them the
job of selection and layout.
