Re: PESO: A splodge of Hippos
I can't see why not! The light is harsh here most of the time. Better on rainy days which, hopefully, are just around the corner. Nice to see your posts again Ann (on g-mail that is). I still don't know why they are not reaching @lantic, Jack's & mine neither. Thanks, Dan. Take a look at the wider view in my other post for Cotty. Alan C On 14-Oct-18 02:52 PM, Daniel J. Matyola wrote: Great catch! Re: PESO: A splodge of Hippos (Mike W)
Mike I zoomed to 100% & scanned the whole image - no crocs. That rock you mentioned has a sort of croc shape. In the wider view, there are a lot more Hippos in the water , another pair of Gypsies at the top. There are also a lot of oxpeckers on the Hippos Alan c On 14-Oct-18 12:17 PM, mike wilson wrote: On 14 October 2018 at 11:05 Alan Cole wrote: Hippos sunbathing below Olifants Camp. No crocs. One of those rocks at the top of the centre right bunch looks a bit suspicious to me. But I suppose the hippos wouldn't tolerate one that close to their young. https://www.flickr.com/photos/wisselstroom/45260654172/ K5 & the Sigma 170-500 & 170mm --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

The usual clean detailed image. "Splodge" seem to suit the scene. PESO: A splodge of Hippos
Hippos sunbathing below Olifants Camp. Range about 200m, cropped. These are some of the survivors. Hippo mortality has been high after 3 drought years. There is precious little for them to eat. A couple of Egyptian Geese in there too.
