Re: PESO: Bodie Ghosts II (re-worked)
Thanks..me too. The turn off to Bodie is on highway 395 (eastern slope of the Sierra)just south of the town of Bridgeport. It's a State Historical Park which is maintained in an, arrested state of decay. The driff from 395 is nine miles of asphalt followed by three miles of extremely rough (as the warning sign states) gravel. Steep grades and washboard chattering drive to 'prox 10,000 ft. It sits in a sweeping plain of scrub desert. Park in a designated lot from which you walk a couple hundred yards into the town. Town actually covers a good size area. There is the mine and mill a ways from the town, but I know nothing about its access. It was just before the five PM closing, too late to do much. The church, I think, could be better isolated in the morning when the sun is in the east. Didn't have my compass, but, depending on the time of year, it might be necessary to give the morning sun a little time to hit the front of the church. I ran into the same server problem when first attempted to post them, but was only a short time 'til they 'took'. I'll check it and re-post if problem continues. Thanks for advice. Re: PESO: Bodie Ghosts
Hi Jack That looks like a great place for photography. Looks a bit like the town in the movie Silverado. I like the framing of the first but the church seems to have a slight lean to the right (perhaps it was built by Republicans) Maybe that's the way it is, otherwise I'd adjust the perspective a bit to make the walls vertical. The second is probably more interesting. The old car and trucks frame the town perfectly. Re: PESO: Bodie Ghosts
Thanks, Brain. It gave me the same impression, but the near right building corner was more vertical and parallel to the church, so let it go. Now that it has been mentioned by someone, I'll straighten it up. I've, otherwise, re-worked the images and will re-post.
