I've always wondered what "fine art" is (as opposed to just art). 
That's especially true WRT "fine art photography".

I've also had big problems defining for myself, exactly what art is
(beyond the "I know it when I see it" sort of thing).

However, you've summed it all up neatly for me, Dave.

PESO: Cat on a Boat on a Trailer

When I was in Nova Scotia last month, I got a rare opportunity to take
a walk at dusk with my eldest daughter, Anne.  Now that she's quite
grown up and living in Halifax, 1000 miles away from me, we don't get
to see much of each other anymore (thank goodness for cheap long
distance ).

On our walk, we saw this cat, who seemed none-too-pleased with our presence:
