Yes, Stan, it is obvious that your shot took a lot of knowledge of the game
and of photography as well.

Re: PESO: Out of the Trap

2019-07-17 Thread Stanley Halpin
Thanks for the comments all!

Jack and Paul, the timing of the shot is where my extended acquaintance with
the game, as player and as observer, comes in handy. Whether it is autos or
auto racing or sailing or birds or golf or weddings or whatever, experience and
knowing the subject are helpful! When I see her in the trap, addressing the
ball, rechecking her target landing area, and then starting her backswing I can
feel it and that definitely helps the timing of the shot. It is good to have
some luck as well!1

And Paul, yes the orange/yellow line in the background is a section of the
ropes they use to partition off the spectator area from the golfers.

Yesterday was the pro-am, today the actual tournament starts. Portions will be
broadcast on The Golf Channel in the evenings and then Live during the finale
on Saturday. Doubtful if you see this young lady though, she and her partner
are both rookies on the tour this year and it would be amazing if they survive
past the 50% cut to the field that happens at the end of tomorrow’s round.

Practice round today, Pro-Am tomorrow, actual competition
 Wednesday-Saturday.
It has been a couple of years, but I was a golfer for 50+ years, have
walked along with several professional tournaments. Other than Media,
photographers/cameras are not allowed on the course during competition, but
today’s practice round was a different story. I went early, Meg and I
wandered the course (the local Country Club which we had only ever seen
from a distance) and I used my years of accumulated experience with the
game to try to capture a few “golfing” shots. It was fun to see some top
golfers, to see some key international players, but mostly I wasn’t trying
to do fan shots of important people, but rather trying for shots showing
dynamic parts of the game. I did a quick download and review. I am very
pleased with the linked image, what I think was my best of the day.
Cropped, but otherwise no post processing. K-1ii with DFA* 70-200/2.8.
