Re: PESO: Redbud & Dogwood

2022-04-28 Thread Daniel J. Matyola
Thanks, Paul.

Yes, unfortunately, the Redbud lost its main two lower branches in a
windstorm. Its wood seems to be even more brittle than dogwood. I planted
this particular tree quite some time ago, in a location where another tree
had recently died, so I suspect the soil and light conditions are poor, and
are factors in the manner in which this tree has developed. (There is a
reason they named our street Shale Hill Road. )

PESO: Redbud & Dogwood

2022-04-27 Thread Daniel J. Matyola
On my morning walk, I was admiring my neighbor's Redbud tree, and it got me
to wondering why I hadn't seen the one I planted a couple of decades ago.
When I got back to my front yard, I looked up, and there it was. It had
grown so tall that all its red blossoms were above and behind one of my
white dogwoods, and now hardly noticeable:

Dan , you nailed the clarity - I love redbuds.. and it's a lovely shot
-I think it might be a bit improved by cropping down from  the top and
making it into a pseudo-panothen it would make a nice web banner... .

The best full tree shot of one I ever took was in Muskogee, OK  - and
that was in 1985.   the weather, the surrounding area and the size of
the treemade it work.  They are hard to shoot to do them justice, I agree

My redbud is really beautiful this year, but it is difficult to
photograph. It is much too tall, and the individual buds much to small to
