Sorry that was an f4.0 500mm, (still amazing), they sold it as the Sigma 
Ultratel(sp?).  Check out the internet wayback machine's stored copy of 
Monahan's "Cult Classic" lenses.

I saw one sell on e-bay once.  The very rare and desirable Vivitar S1 400mm 
solid cat, (about 800 originaly sold), usually goes for a few hundred dollars.  
The F4.0 Sigma sold for close to $1000.00...

I saw a pic the other day of a Tamron (?) 500mm f6.3. I don't know if
it is still made but I would be interested in one. The Sigma is a good
lens, but realistically it is more like f11.

inspired,  I went out this evening and did another attempt at my own  
moon shot. This one is with a Tamron SP 500/5 mirror lens I bought  
from a list member a few years ago and have hardly utilized.
