Re: PESO: Tonights Full Moon
Sorry that was an f4.0 500mm, (still amazing), they sold it as the Sigma Ultratel(sp?). Check out the internet wayback machine's stored copy of Monahan's "Cult Classic" lenses. <http://web.archive.org/web/20041209100811/http://medfmt.8k.com/third/cult.html#sigma> I saw one sell on e-bay once. The very rare and desirable Vivitar S1 400mm solid cat, (about 800 originaly sold), usually goes for a few hundred dollars. The F4.0 Sigma sold for close to $1000.00... -Original Message- >From: Joseph McAllister >Sent: Jan 12, 2009 11:22 PM >To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List >Subject: Re: PESO: Tonights Full Moon > > >On Jan 12, 2009, at 19:52 , Peter Alling wrote: > >> Sigma made a 600 f4.0 mirror tele... > > >You sure? Thanks Walt. Small correction - the Tamron SP is of course a 500/8, not a 500/5. Nice shot as well, Stan. I saw a pic the other day of a Tamron (?) 500mm f6.3. I don't know if it is still made but I would be interested in one. The Sigma is a good lens, but realistically it is more like f11. Walt On Sun, Jan 11, 2009 at 11:15 PM, Stan Halpin wrote: > I liked the moon shot Walter! Also others in your gallery. Walter, outstanding image. I intended to try the day before but chose the wrong position - atracted unwanted audience and had to take off fast. Congrats. Good moon shot. It might stay clear today/tonight.. I'll have to see what we get here.
