Re: peso - yellow sky

2023-06-08 Thread ann sanfedele
The gov is on TV now stressing importance of staying home, wearing masks
if must go out, etc.  Readings right now are just a bit under 200.. n95
masks are being handed out in transportation hubs .. also among
suggestions for what to do inside is to limit use of or not use gas
ranges at all..

Now they have mentioned the horse race that completes the TRiple CRown
over here may be cancelled as well.. and that is scheduled for Saturday

afternoon.  Just now alert was extended to friday night..

Happily my fridge is stocked with food.. I would not want to ask anyone
to deliver stuff.

amazing times - not in a good way

OK.  We had some of that here in Wisconsin but certainly not to that

Re: PESO: Yellow wildflower

2021-03-24 Thread mike wilson
One of the defining characteristics of Ranunculids (buttercups) is that their
petals have a smooth, reflective surface, which is not common in other
flowering plants. Hypotheses for the presence of this surface range from an
extra attractant to pollinating insects to a heat regulating mechanism for the
reproductive organs. In other words, nobody knows

Rereading your post before sending, I realised that you probably meant what I
said above. I also think they are less shiny than they should be, which is why
I included Anemones.

Re: PESO: yellow-wattled lapwing

2018-05-07 Thread John
It's "click-bait" advertising. I got the same ad show up for "Raleigh, NC" when
I temporarily allowed "gravatar.com" and "pubmine.com" in NoScript to see if
show EXIF data on the lens Subash is using.

I didn't follow the link, but based on the accompanying image, it's probably an
advertisement for a product that prevents license plate scanners from capturing
your plate number.

https://www.aclu.org/issues/privacy-technology/location-tracking/you-are-being-tracked

The problem with these devices is that most places that use the license plate
scanner technology also prohibit the devices intended to defeat them. You can
get a ticket just for having it on your car.

"text" links. Corrected link below.

It looks like you put spaces in the URL, which while technically
legal is pretty much guaranteed to cause problems, and they end up
showing up as %20 when they do work, so they look worse than if you
had just used dashes.
I've been doing it, (putting spaces into the URL), for a while, and
Thunderbird has always filled in the spaces with %20 when pasting a
link, basically the html escape character for space. It seems to have
stopped doing that after the latest update. Probably a setting
somewhere that can be changed but I've never had to look before.
Since I started using the upDog dropbox app, I've had to hand
generate my links anyway, so I'll just change the template to reflect
the new reality.

It looks like you put spaces in the URL, which while technically legal

I do have white, black, blue, red and grey backgrounds that I use at
times, but usually only on movable objects, such as flowers that have

Thanks, Ann.

Actually, when I posted this I thought "Ann will hate this because of
the bright colors." I very pleased to hear that you like the image.

I couldn't get the wind to stop, so I went to shutter priority and
tried it first at 1/1600 and then at 1/400; the latter stopped the
motion and gave me a wide aperture (f3) t create a narrow depth of
focus that made the flower on the right really stand out from the
others.

Great job! and excellent use of background.

It might also work well as a square crop with about as much space to the

As amazingly well as the colors complement each other, it might also

Re: PESO: Yellow Iris

2015-09-06 Thread Knarf
Beautiful, sharp subject, Dan. The bokeh is creamy and soft and the background
colours perfectly compliment the bloom.

It lifts it far above an average flower photo, to a whole new level.

It's a special photograph.

Cheers,

frank
