PESO -- Chartreuse Coupe II [BW]

2007-02-22 Thread P. J. Alling
One more PESO and that will be enough for a while. I decided to do a
BW conversion on the Chartreuse Coupe II that I posted a while ago.
Of course that would have removed the reason for its name so I made a
few alterations.

http://www.mindspring.com/~morephotos/PESO_--_chartreusecoupeiibw.html

and the original, in case anyone cares:

http://www.mindspring.com/~megazip/PESO_--_chartreusecoupeii.html

As usual comments are welcome, but may be totally ignored.

The black and white conversion looks nice, but I'm not a big fan of
bw with a splash of color photos. Personal preference. Nothing
wrong with it. That said, I prefer the original.

Interesting shot. The guy's hat adds a lot -- makes it seem more old
fashioned. Unfortunately, I find the girl in the red shirt, mainly the red
shirt,
distracting. Might crop it to be even more square. Or PS to blur the background.

PESO -- Chartreuse Coupe

2006-08-25 Thread P. J. Alling
I couldn't fall asleep so I decided to post a PESO.

I took this last Bastille day, really beside the point but a it seems an
interesting tidbit.
Why should Stenquist have all the fun of annoying the group with classic
car photos. I cropped it to 8x10 as the subject seemed to centered in
the frame.

Its easy to understand why the cat has eclipsed the dog as modern America's

I don't know, the restoration removed any identifiable badges. I
didn't speak with the driver.

Looks like a roadster to me. Probably a fiberglass replica of an Auburn
Boat-tail speedster. Hum..? A closer look tends to make me think it is a
restoration.

PESO -- Chartreuse Coupe II

2006-08-25 Thread P. J. Alling
This is a bit more timeless.

http://www.mindspring.com/~megazip/PESO_--_chartreusecoupeii.html

Technical Info.:

Pentax *ist-Ds ISO 400 @ 1/350sec (Av)
smc Pentax FA 28-200mm f3.8-5.6 AL[IF] @f4.0 (38mm)

Notes:

I wasn't going to post this one the focus was a bit off. It needs to be
a bit in front of the driver to get the entire car in acceptable focus
while rendering the background as sharp as possible for what I wanted to
achieve , and even though the car wasn't moving very fast there's
apparent motion blur in the taillights at full resolution. However I
touched it up a bit and the problems aren't as noticeable at web resolution.

As usual comments are welcome but may be totally ignored.

The cat sig is coming down as soon as I verify that I'm attributing the
next one correctly. I hope I haven't offend any cat lovers too much.

Nice shot. The strong contrast and saturation work very well with the
subject. I love the hat. A more unusual angle makes this very
enjoyable.

Re: PESO -- Chartreuse Coupe II

2006-08-25 Thread Bruce Dayton
It is a nice angle on the car but, the background is rather busy and
it looks to frozen - not sure if it is just parked or driving along.
The driver position seems to indicate movement, but the image does
not. Also the saturation and contrast are a lot lower in this one.

I like the first better.
