I suspect there may be some ugly digital noise lurking in the dark depths of those eyes, so I don't want to pull the levers too hard in PS on this one. Thanks Paul, No extender on the flash. I got a chance to look at Tim's BetterBeamer, though, and that's definately something I'll look into. DOF effect. :-) These birds lean themselves naturally to anthropomorphism. :-) When sorting through the raw files, this one and a narrow handful more stood out as having perfect DOF, ie. that the hyper-focal distance covered exactly what it should and nothing else. Getting sharp images with this lens is not very difficult since AF is quite snappy, but getting the entire DOF perfectly positioned when working at a pre-set aperture is sheer luck as far as I'm concerned. Not that I mind being a bit lucky, though... :-) ... But I'll have to give some thought to this to improve the odds.
