Vancouver promotes itself as the "City of Glass." It leaves me rather cold, 
and a lot of lovely architecture has been bulldozed since I first visited 
Vancouver about 25 years ago. Apparently it was the huge influx of money 
from Hong Kong before its transfer from Britain to China that started the 
change.
