Boris, Steve ~et al~, thanks for your kind words.  I do thinks it's
not a bad shot;  as I said, I'm quite satisfied with it, but that
doesn't stop me from seeing lots of things to improve for next time.

I hoped that there would be lots of games at the park this weekend,
but it's been a rainy day.  Perhaps they wouldn't schedule games on a
long weekend anyway, when folks might be away for the weekend.
Anyway, looks like maybe I'll have to wait until next year to see what
I can do with Little League baseball.

Something to look forward to!

something shorter than 200mm, so a zoom would have been nice).
Hopefully this weekend there'll be some games and I can spend a good
long time there with a zoom getting more shots.

Yes, well, you certainly summed up my feelings pretty well.  The
second baseman behind him is a distraction (although at least he's
nicely OOF).  I have another shot of this pitcher in which you can see
all of his right foot and the ball's a bit closer to him - much better
composed I think - but he's badly OOF.  Frustrating.  Mind you in this
one the stitching of the ball's a bit better in this one.

Oh well, life (and photography) is full of compromises, isn't it?
This is the best of an imperfect lot, and I'm satisfied with it.
Hopefully there'll be lots of games this weekend - the park's 1/2 a
block from my house - and I'll have the chance to shoot some more.

I think it is a fine image, Frank.  I like the dof, the position of
the ball, the expression on the pitcher's face, and the posture of the
fielder to the left of the pitcher.  The fielder or runner behind the
pitcher is a bit distracting, but  we work in an imperfect world and
must take it as it is.  I think this image does a great job of
portraying the scene and the action.

My, my - Frank has gone from street to landscape to wildlife and now to sports. 
 And he has done quite well at each of these different genres.  Nice going 
again, Frank.  To get the best shot off pitching, you have to be near the 
catcher.  Been there many a time.
