Thanks, Bob.

IIRC, this was an early morning shot. I have lots of petunias and
other annuals in the planters on my desk, but this one survived the
sun, rain, insects and deer better than most.

Update: Trooper already has his new home; Maui will go to a new home
at the end of the week (together with another adoptee, Butterscotch,
who is staying with us for the next few days to get accquainted).

It was a very good adoption fair - seven kitties found new families.

He probably was on radio before that, too...

My father sang that all the time when we are motoring around the
country - and would do a revolting thum twirl over his head going
doodala DO do - do DO ...

My father, old enough to be grandfather when I was born, was in his 50's
in the 40's. We did, of course, listen
to lots of radio in those days, and I grew up in Chicago. Thanks for
telling me about that show, I have no recollection

No - it was part of a group naming scheme. the five kittens
were Lintilla (cos she looked just like her mum), Benji, Frankie,
Trillian and Petunia. Mother was Goldie (aka Heart of Gold).

Then a closer look showed that the medical records were wrong,
and "Lintilla" was actually a boy, not a girl. So he became
Carbon (full name: Carbon the copy cat) instead.

This is all five of them just after we rescued them:
