PESO - Practice, Practice, Practice

2011-06-24 Thread frank theriault
She was just standing there, playing her guitar. She wasn't busking
or asking for money (no hat or cup on the ground in front of her), she
was just leaning against that pole, playing. Not singing, just
playing her guitar. People don't usually do that unless they're
asking for change.

I thought all that made her somewhat interesting and different:

Hope you enjoy. Comments welcome.

Nice. I like the repetition of her form in the form of the man walking
behind her. I think I'd consider cloning out the car in the background
for this photo ... It doesn't add anything and it pulls my eye upwards
hoping to see something there.

Yeah, I can relate. Not difficult to understand all the reasons you may have

Also, like the inclusion of the disinterested background guy.

On one level, I like the juxtaposition with the guy in the background, to keep
him in the photo, I'd crop out the lower left, just below her feet, and a
chunk of the pole, probably putting the corner right where the grass comes to a
point.

If, however, I just wanted a shot of her playing guitar, rather than her
playing for a disinterested audience, I'd crop the top just above her hat and
just to the right of the guitar, cropping out both the guy and the car. While
this crop would lose the whimsy of the counterpoint between the two, I think
that it would be a stronger composition on pure aesthetics.

Leave it like it is.

If you lose her feet, she's got no where to stand. The shoes are kind of
interesting. They don't really go with the wiry muscular arms & legs.

Ya' gotta' keep the depressed guy, and cloning out the car is a lot of
work for not much benefit.

She's holding the guitar like someone who doesn't have a guitar strap.
Why doesn't she have a strap? Where's the guitar case?

Is there a pawnshop/music store nearby? A bus stop?

That's the story the image conjured up for me ... she just got the
guitar & is waiting for a bus back home.
