Thanks Christine! My mistake: the links I posted were from my stream, not from the AID 2012 set, that's why the odd behavior of the arrow above the first photo. That one is part of a set I posted last week or so. Godfrey On Mon, Oct 29, 2012 at 8:24 PM, Christine Aguila christ...@caguila.com wrote: I really like the photo called Flora Fakes, Godfrey. Re: PESO 2012 - 120-130 - GDG
Interesting set of photos. It reminded me that back in 1994, I was considering buying an Alfa Romeo Milano (late 1980s model). It was a cool looking car. Fortunately, a friend pointed out to the cost of maintenance... While checking for the cost of certain repairs, I also realized that some parts were hard to find (in the middle of Illinois). IIRC, it was similar to this one: http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/attachments/alfa-romeo-cars-sale-wanted/137589d1240451320-87-alfa-romeo-milano-alfa-milano-right-side_022609.jpg Cheers, Igor Mon Oct 29 17:52:36 EDT 2012 Godfrey DiGiorgi wrote: Finally got to post the remainder of the photos I made at All Italian Day 2012 to Flickr. Re: PESO 2012 - 120-130 - GDG
Thanks Igor! Alfa Romeos in the USA are definitely enthusiast cars and often a bit of a PITA to deal with. That said, they are delightful to drive and always interesting in design and specification. The Milano is a nice sedan, although not my favorite model (I much preferred the Tipo 164). However, a friend of mine owns two GTV6s (one for the track and one for the street, used on nice weekends and trips). A Milano Verde is his daily driver and runaround car. Obviously an enthusiast ... he's got all the connections for parts and service needed, and doesn't care that he can't just drop it at the local dealership. It's all good. I'm not patient enough to play the game with older Alfa Romeo cars anymore, although I drove Alfa Romeo Spiders for many years and still love the marque. Hopefully we'll get some of the new models in the coming years, now that FIAT is making an effort to return to the US market. Re: PESO 2012 - 120-130 - GDG
You can already buy some Alfa Romeo hardware from Chrysler. The Dodge Dart is built on a slightly larger version of the Giulietta platform and has the same suspension system. One of the available engines, the 1.4-liter turbo four is from Alfa (and Fiat) as well. But the real prize, the sleek and sexy Alfa 4C, will be here soon, perhaps before the end of 2013.
