re: PESO - Empty
I am pretty sure that there were squatters in the abandoned rooms. Maybe they're still there at night (I decided to not enter open doorways). The thought occurred to me that the graffiti is the motel "talking". Which is fine. However if that message echos the feeling of a female in the area (perhaps a squatter) then it's a very sad statement indeed. I don't see the photos I took as a failure. They just didn't turn out the way I thought they might. I did end up with a few individual photos which work for me, and I'm okay with that. I looked at the photos and realized I was wrong - they weren't interesting at all - at least not as a series. But this bit of graffiti on the back wall of the old motel interested me: http://knarfinthecity.blogspot.com/2012/03/empty.html Kind of sad, really. Anyway, in case your interested and didn't see it a few days ago, here's the motel in question: http://knarfinthecity.blogspot.com/2012/03/air-conditioned.html Hope you enjoy. Re: OT PESO - Empty Subway
There's an article about enhancing micro contrast on the web. I can't find the link but a google search of Micro Contrast Photoshop Unsharp Mask or similar will get you a pointer. The gist of it is, that you enhance micro contrast by using these settings in USM, Amount=20%, Radius=50 pixels, threshold=0. Some images respond better to slightly different parameters, but the 20%, 50, 0 gives a good start, and usually a good finish. -Original Message- >From: Pasvorn Boonmark >Sent: Jan 26, 2009 1:44 PM >To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List >Subject: Re: OT PESO - Empty Subway > >Adam, > >I like this type of pictures. I do miss the DoF control it lacks, but I'm waiting for the 20/1.7, the Oly 25 would only interest me if I was planning on buying into 4/3rds as well as m43 (I am considering a few 4/3rds lenses for eventual purchase, but the 25/2.8 isn't one of them since I've little interest in 4/3rds SLR's). I've found the OIS to be extremely effective, enough to make up for the slow lens speed in many situations. -- M. Micro contrast is one half of the equation for getting something to appear sharp, it's the contrast at the level of each individual detail. the other half of the equation is resolving the basic detail. Sharpening in fact does nothing other than increase micro-contrast to make the detail look sharp, -Adam On Mon, Jan 26, 2009 at 1:44 PM, Pasvorn Boonmark wrote: > Adam, > > I like this type of pictures.
