Trial & error testing. At least that's how I'm doing it.

Again a fantastic job Rob.

Thanks Jay,

The head is a standard 3 way unit but with the addition of a macro slide rail
which is fitted with a QR plate and shoe so that I can clip it in between the
tripod head and camera. This then allows me to add a horizontal offset to allow
the pivot point to be set at the lenses optical nodal point in order to
minimize parallax errors.

Where do you get info about a particular lens' nodal point?

This one I wanted to have the car in, how else do I prove that I drove 16000km,
I guess I should have bothered to close the door though :-)

Do, it's good fun and it can teach anyone a lot about composition which is so
much more difficult when you have to account for 360 degrees AOV than just the
relatively narrow angle that even a fisheye can capture.

The only thing I wish I could change, would be to remove the vehicle from
the final image. I can think of two ways of doing this. One, involves
parking the vehicle miles from your camera and doing some hiking back to
the panorama location. :)

The other involves moving the vehicle between individual shots of the
panorama. That way, it never appears in any of the individual pictures. If
you have a friend assist you, they can move the vehicle for you between
shots, and it wouldn't even slow down your picture taking.

Even with the vehicle, it's still an interesting shot. I have yet to create
an interesting panorama without obvious seams, and it's something I want to
perfect in the near future. I should also add that I haven't really put
much effort into panoramas so far, but now that I have the DS, I think I
will give it a try.

Hi Paul,

Yes it is a lot of fun, just don't go trying to produce one with WA lenses if
you haven't attempted to compensate for parallax error in the tripod head,
stitching then becomes a nightmare. I've got mine nicely set up now, it's easy
to dial in compensation for any particular lens. So now I can shoot panos with
subject matter at any distance from the lens easily. Good luck, I look forward
to seeing some of your attempts :-)
