Thank You All my Friends,

More of you seem to prefer the square composition.
I will consider your suggestions to improve these two before printing.

I promise I will not be submitting a flower picture ... for at least a week ;)

Nothing hateful at all Bulent! I like the feel of the 2nd one best,
but the 2 vertical bits of grass detract quite a bit - almost dividing
it into 3. Any chance of going out again with some scissors? (or maybe
some clever cloning would be more ecologically sound!).

Chris,
Thank you for your comment.
I am happy that you enjoyed the second one more; as that one also
seems to tell me more.

In fact, I was aware of those dividers and I have decided to leave them alone.
My reasoning was to create a sense of depth; trying to isolate the
objectified flowers amongst other things.
That is to say, they should not to be seen like a museum specimen
(with no distracting elements).
The first, square composition was an attempt at the contrary direction.

So, the busy background and the distracting foreground elements
were intentional... to a degree :)

In the end, I do benefit a lot by reading your comments and suggestions.
Better next time :)

Bulent,
Both excellent photos!
I don't know the flower in the 1st photo but the photo is spectacular.
The 2nd photo is open to some interpretation - square, portrait, or as
you shot it.
I like the grass blades framing the flower.
Without them, I would say it was too open and the flower too small in the frame.
Regards, Bob S.

I love the first one, and the square crop works well. I think it would work
better keeping it square, knocking a little off the bottom, and a lot off the
top and right so that the flower takes up a lot more of the square.

In the second, I am trying to share how it feels to be within summer

The second one does a good job of expressing a feeling, I think it would work
even better if the in focus purple flowers were at a 1/3 composition point.

The first one is really nice - I like the limited depth of field which
focuses the eye on the central cluster of flowers and on the hairs on
the foreground leaf. Very well done.

The second doesn't work quite as well for me but I appreciate what you
were trying to achieve.
