Thank You All my Friends, More of you seem to prefer the square composition. I will consider your suggestions to improve these two before printing. Re: PESO... Hate flower shots? Ignore this message ;)
Chris, Thank you for your comment. I am happy that you enjoyed the second one more; as that one also seems to tell me more. In fact, I was aware of those dividers and I have decided to leave them alone. My reasoning was to create a sense of depth; trying to isolate the objectified flowers amongst other things. That is to say, they should not to be seen like a museum specimen (with no distracting elements). The first, square composition was an attempt at the contrary direction. So, the busy background and the distracting foreground elements were intentional... to a degree :) In the end, I do benefit a lot by reading your comments and suggestions. Better next time :) Bulent - http://www.flickr.com/photos/bc_the_path/ http://photo.net/photodb/user?user_id=2226822 http://www.pentaxphotogallery.com/bulentcelasun -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
Re: PESO... Hate flower shots? Ignore this message ;)
Bulent, Both excellent photos! I don't know the flower in the 1st photo but the photo is spectacular. The 2nd photo is open to some interpretation - square, portrait, or as you shot it. I like the grass blades framing the flower. Without them, I would say it was too open and the flower too small in the frame. Regards, Bob S. I think it would work better keeping it square, knocking a little off the bottom, and a lot off the top and right so that the flower takes up a lot more of the square. I favor the second one more... There is a quality of light and hue here that remind me of Frank's warbler photos..
