RE: Pentax in Photo Mags

2001-05-17 Thread Cyril MARION

Hello,

I must add that in this May issue of CdI it is the first time the big
reseller 'CAMARA' has not mentionned any PENTAX item in its ad... The SIGMA
SLR's have replaced the PENTAX ones in the ad, and I just hope when the MZ-S
is released CAMARA will start again to advertize PENTAX.

Hello,
The new issue of Chasseur d'Image has a blurb on the 28-105mm 'silver',

The new "trans-standard" Pentax SMC 28-105 mm f/3.2-4.5 AL IF exists (or:
has
been presented) in a 'Silver' version (or more exactly: brushed aluminium,
 hence the "AL" name).
 Main Features:
   o 12 lens in 11 groups.
o Field of view: from 75° to 23°5.
   o Minimal focusing distance: 0,5m
o Front Filter thread size: 58mm
   o Size: 66 x 65.5 mm; Weight: 255g

Albano,

I did open it and, of course, you are right twice: the mag is
worthless and there is nothing new about MZ-S :)

Albano,

Yes that part seemed suspicious to me too, but I just copied/translated from
the magazine.

I guess their interpretation doesn't hold water as I can't see the use
of writing "AL" for aluminium on a lens you can pretty well see does not have
the more common grey-black finish.

OTOH, I thought I had often read _here_ that Pentax rarerly, if ever, publicized
using Aspheric(-al) elements.

cheers

The May issue of Petersens magazine has the MZ S in cover, claiming an User's
Report or Test.
Since the magazine is pure shit, I didn't open it.
I'm pretty sure it will say nothing new about it, since the mag is just a
written infomercial.

And did you notice the double-page photo taken with a Pentax 67 in the first few
pages of Outdoor Photographer? Very nice.

BTW: I've concluded that O.P. can be educational if you look at the photos
featured, but reading most of the articles is a waste of time.
