The rocks in and the waves in the centre look good, but the shape of the rocks gets lost in the trees. Sasha, I like the overall exposure generally, but would lighten the areas of deepest shadows somewhat. Wave action is a nice inclusion and the background trees add to the depth and interest. Sasha, I think Rick's comments are onto something. There is too much geometry for me. Crop off the awning piping at the bottom, or the mechanicals and sky of the top and it looks better. As is, the picture seems to have three parts, awning piping/hangers, stucco wall with sloping drain pipe, and roof mechanical structure with sky. I can't get them to mesh... Regards, Bob S. I've been looking at this for a while, and there are really 5 maybe 6 pictures there, depending on how you crop them and almost all are better, (I was going to say more interesting, but not really, this shot is interesting), than the overall composition. I really like the way the sky looks and wish there'd been more of it in this shot. I think I see what you were going after with the tonalities, but more sky, and consequently less of the area where the metal tubing is, would have made it more visually effective, I think. Still, I do like the basic elements of the shot. Sasha, it is very sharp and very nicely rendered, but to me there seems to be too much conflicting geometry. The assembly at the bottom leads the eye up and to the left, until it is stopped by the horizontal line; then the downspout leads one up and to the right. You might try cropping out the entire bottom whatever-it-is, and some of the sky to balance things.
