Re: Photos from Hallett Motor Speedway
I apologize, Ted, I completely omitted any comment about your photos - I quite enjoyed them, especially those of the vintage cars - can one call them race rods? - and nice panning action there, too. Also, the one of the Miata behind the Super Seven =) Tiny nit - can you modify your website so I can see them bigger? Thank you for sharing Ecke PS: http://slidingintohome.blogspot.com/2010/04/shades-of-willie-mays-hayes.html - Google just came up with this 2010/6/2 eckinator eckina...@gmail.com: 010/6/2 eckinator eckina...@gmail.com: 2010/5/28 tbei...@sbcglobal.net: The eye of the viewer becomes the eye of the Photographer. In HallettSpeedway-1803r.jpg.w560h372.jpg, those skid marks should tell you you're standing behind or in an impact zone. :-) The panning thing really hoses up the hit rate, too. In HallettSpeedway-1468r.jpg it looks like maybe you changed lenses or something and the camera reset your shutter speed. The EXIF data says the shutter speed was 8.45, but the tires in the background look like the shutter speed was much faster than that, or he was moving really slowly. -- Thanks, DougF (KG4LMZ) -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
Re: Photos from Hallett Motor Speedway
Thanks for the comments Doug, I wondered if anyone would notice those skid marks. They were made by a Honda coupe spinning out and sliding into the the corner workers bunker. Wasn't there when it happened, but while I was there, I kept a good eye on the track for anybody else repeating the slide. The Porsch was still trying to gather it up and get back on the track so he was moving much slower. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Re: Photos from Hallett Motor Speedway
A race is where the drivers are competing for position. An open track is more akin to a school, and often is a school. People are driving on the track at speed but are not competing for position and are not supposed to be taking nearly the level of risk that is accepted in a race. As such, cars in a race are generally required to have a much higher level of safety equipment than cars at a track day. Nice shots. Were they running an open track also? The viper doesn't look like it has a cage.
