Re: Portra 800 and weddings

2001-09-02 Thread Treena Harp

Hey, when you're the best ... ;) Actually, I used the standard 75mm for the
645, a Sigma 28-80 f3.5-5.6, an FA 80-320, and an A 50mm f2. I recognized
immediately the need for a wide angle and a shorter portrait leaf shutter
lens for the 645 -- the 75mm worked well, but I would have had a lot more
versatility with a couple more lenses. Hopefully, I can pick up at least one
of the above in the next few months.

To make this on-topic: shot the wedding with a PZ-1p w/ 500FTZ flash,
and
 a 645 with a Sunpak 555
w/Lumiquest softbox (first time to use it; worked GREAT).

Wow! You shot the whole wedding without any lenses?!?!? Damn, you're good
 ; )

Portra 800 and weddings

2001-09-01 Thread Treena Harp

Just got proofs back from the nephew's wedding. Portra was definitely a good
choice, although I credit a lot of it to a VERY good local professional
processor and printer. I had figured the Portra 800 would be more grainy,
but the grain was less than I expected. I also expected the color cast to be
off since the church's lights were very dim and yellow and I wasn't allowed
to use flash during the ceremony, but the color cast was actually pleasantly
warm with lots of detail, and skintones weren't far off. I haven't used it
for any other applications, but it did work out very well for this one. I
now wish I'd gotten some in 120 -- would've been fun. To make this on-topic:
