And a K30/2.8 went for a bundle as well.
IIRC, over $250. (dojarek was the seller)
And it wasn't even a pristine example.

I've been watching the FA 35/2 for awhile, and it seems to be scarcity that
drives its price. It seems to eternally be on back-order at BH.

The FA 20/2.8 is in stock at the moment, but unfortunately my liquidity is
on back order. :)

Are you suggesting, then, that it's scarcity that drives the price of K
lenses, or are you just commenting on the FA 35/2.0? And where does the FA
20/2.8 fit into this?

Normally, market demand drives prices. When it comes to eBay, ignorance
and dumbasses who bid without any intention of ever completing the
purchase seem have more effect.

I wouldn't take an eBay price as market value. I've seen too much stuff
sell there for way more than I could get it from KEH, Adorama or BH.

Not surprising, it's a fast 35mm the prices for these have always been
relatively high. The price is still very reasonable if you

compare it to the FA 35f2.

Yes, and the A and FA series 35/2 lenses have long carried a premium,
though there was a time not too long ago that the M and K 35/2
lenses could be found for very reasonable prices, even when prices on
the 30/2.8 and even the pancake were high.

The season is also a boon to prices.
They're most often cheaper in the winter.
Yet given where the prices were 6 months ago,
prices going even higher is not unforseeable.

And, IIRC, my FA50/1.4 came from you last year @ a pretty modest price.

2005-06-10 Thread Tim Sherburne

My belief is the relative scarcity of these two FA lenses has contributed to
higher used prices. I don't know what plan Pentax has for them, but they may
not command the same production resources as their other products.

Older glass isn't something I follow too closely. Given the choice between a
K 35/2 and an FA 35/2, I'd probably pick the FA, despite the better build
quality of the K; I appreciate the FA's additional features too much.

I'm looking at eBay/KEH price trends, not PDML members who may be

the list. ;-)

A K30 f2.8 is listed at KEH at the bargain price of $349, so $250 for
Dojarek's lens on eBay doesn't look like such a bad deal...
