RE: OT: more from the big snowfall in Switzerland - shoot with the Olympus XA4 macro
Hi John The XA4 macro is the rare and only one of the series with a 28mm F3.5 lens and close focus up to 30 centimeters. The others have 35mm lenses, the XA F.2.8 and the later ones are slower at F3.5. The XA was my very first camera when I worked on swiss ships worldwide followed by the Pentax ME Super I got it tax free in Hongkong 1982. Both are the most silent cameras I have, very convenient in churches and in crowded places. Here is a test shot from a distance of one meter with the XA4 macro, not bad and Paul could like it too ;-) I made another one from 30 centimeters and should get it back from the labs in a few day to show it... http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=4242556 greetings Markus >>-Original Message- >>From: John Bailey [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] >>Sent: Monday, March 20, 2006 4:46 PM >>To: pentax-discuss@pdml.net >>Subject: RE: OT: more from the big snowfall in Switzerland - shoot with >>the Olympus XA4 macro >> >> >>Markus, >> >>Love both first photographs with the SPF/85mm and the >>XA4. Markus, Love both first photographs with the SPF/85mm and the XA4. Before digital I used to supplement my LX with my XA2. I love the lens on that little camera even though its only a 35/3.5? Ever since I heard about the XA4 I wanted to see it and its results. Thanks for posting them. John

BTW. I am curious about the Tamron mirror lens. You know the drill. Tim Mostly harmless (just plain Norwegian) Never underestimate the power of stupidity in large crowds (Very freely after Arthur C. I bought a Tokina 150-500/5,6 SD. It was not cheap but I grew tired looking for the perfect buy, and went for "Buy it now" instead. According to the tracing system it is floating around in the twilight zone between Netherland and Norway right now. I'll keep you all posted, be sure ;-) Tim Mostly harmless (just plain Norwegian) Never underestimate the power of stupidity in large crowds (Very freely after Arthur C. Hi Tim thanks for the comment and I'm really looking forward to hear from your bird photography experience. I will try some cormorant shots in the next days with a SP 500/8 Tamron mirror lens and fast film, but maybe I just a need better/faster lens for that or try again with the Soligor 350mm F5.6 M42 lens I got for $20 at an auction ;-) Do you have your tele lens now? greetings Markus >>As others have said. Again, the first image catches my fancy. You have a knack for taking good shots with snow. Keep them coming. -- Best regards, Bruce Saturday, March 18, 2006, 10:43:14 PM, you wrote: MM> Hi Pentaxians MM> I use to carry a second camera body with me besdie the different Pentax and MM> mostly it's a small Olympus XA with 35mm lens or in the last days an Olympus MM> XA4 macro with 28mm fixed lens.
